Outreach Section was established to develop and implement efficient
and effective customer service and insurance education to the consumers
of Tennessee. These objectives are met through educational seminars,
workshops and group meetings.
The Insurance Assistance
Office for Seniors was created to lend and provide information to Tennessee
consumers on matters concerning Medicare, Medicare supplement insurance,
Long Term Care insurance and other health insurance related topics.

This section regulates the
formation, admission, operation, and examinations of the life companies,
casualty companies, title companies, captives, heath maintenance organizations,

responsibilities of this section encompass reviewing and analyzing financial
statements, receiving required reports and premium taxes, and detailed
examinations including financial status, market conduct activities,
and compliance with insurance laws, rules, and regulations.

This section investigates
consumer complaints concerning claims, agents and companies. For example,
if you feel an insurance company or agent has not been fair in settling
your claim, call the Consumer Insurance Services Section. Investigators
will look into the matter and try to work out a solution to your problem.
This Section also houses the Division's Fraud and Market Conduct Units.

that rates changed by fire and casualty insurance companies must be
"fair, reasonable, adequate, and not unfairly discriminatory." This
section makes actuarial determinations resulting from rate filings and
reports its findings to the commissioner.

This section approves individual
and groups of employers to be self-insured on workers compensation.
Automobile clubs and surplus lines insurors (companies that insure risks
that standard insurance companies will not) are also approved. All licensees
