WHAT IS SHORT TERM MEDICAL INSURANCE?
Short Term Medical is a temporary plan of insurance designed for people who are between permanent health plans. Whether you are a graduating student, between jobs, laid off, or waiting for your employer's health coverage to begin, a Short Term Medical plan from Fortis Insurance Company provides valuable insurance protection.
HOW DOES THE PLAN WORK?
You choose the Deductible and Rate of Payment option that meets your needs. Deductible choices are:$250, $500, $1000, or $2,500. Rate of Payment options are 80/20 or 50/50.
How will benefits be paid?
First: You pay the elected Deductible for each Covered Person.
Then: Once the Deductible is satisfied, Fortis pays either 80% or 50% of the next $5,000 of Covered Expenses, depending on the Rate of Payment you selected. You pay either 20% or 50%.
Thereafter: The plan pays 100% of remaining Covered Expenses up to the plan maximum of $2,000,000 for each Covered Person.
