IMPORTANT
NOTICE
In accordance with the Association
of British Insurers Code of Practice, the following
important features of your policy are hereby brought to your
attention:
Health
1 Where you have any medical
condition or on-going medical condition for which you have
received treatment, are on continuous medication or have
visited/been referred to a specialist or have been a
hospital in-patient during the 12 month period immediately
preceding the date of issue of this certificate, or
2 where you are on a hospital waiting list for in-patient
treatment, or
3 where you have or have suffered from any of the following
medical conditions: Heart related condition, Hypertension,
Arterial Disease, Kidney Disease, Malignant Disease
(Cancer), Lung and or respiratory Disease (including Asthma
where you have received in-patient hospital treatment), or
had a Stroke
you must contact the Healthcheck Line on 020 8315
0736 . Cover for these
conditions will only be provided following the Healthcheck
Line's acceptance. Unless reported and agreed by the
Healthcheck Line the above conditions will be excluded.
Policy Document This gives you full details of what is and
is not covered and the conditions of cover. You must read
the insurance policy carefully.
Conditions, Exclusions and
Warranties Conditions and
exclusions apply to individual sections of the policy;
general conditions, exclusions and warranties apply to the
whole policy.
Property Claims Claims are paid based on the value of the
goods at the time you lose them and not on a new for old or
replacement cost basis. The policy sets out what proof the
insurer needs to support a claim.
Date Recognition
Failure The policy contains
exclusions for losses arising from failure correctly to
recognise the calendar date eg the change to year
2000.
Policy Limits Most sections of the policy have limits on
the amount the insurers will pay under that section. Some
sections also include other specific limits, for example for
any one item or for valuables in total. You are advised to
check your policy if you intend taking expensive items with
you.
Policy Excesses Under most sections of the policy claims
are subject to excess. This means that you will be
responsible for paying the first part of each claim. The
amount you have to pay is the excess.
Reasonable Care You must take all reasonable care to
protect yourself and your property, just as would if you
were not insured.
Complaints The policy contains a Complaints Procedure,
which tells you what steps to take if you wish to make a
complaint.
Fraud
It is a criminal offence to make a fraudulent claim.
Dangerous Sports or
Pastimes If you intend to take
part in dangerous sports or pastimes where there is a risk
of injury, check that you are covered by the policy
Cooling Off Period The insurance certificate allows a period
of 14 days during which you can return the document and get
a refund if you have a justifiable reason for
dissatisfaction with the cover provided by the policy. The
Policy is subject to English law unless specifically agreed
otherwise.
Please ensure that you read the
insurance policy carefully. Failure to comply with its Terms
and Conditions may result in cover being restricted or
excluded.
