Frequently asked questions
Q.1 Before your go: Suppose I
have to cancel? If you have purchased Option two or Option
three, the policy provides cover if you have to cancel your trip due to your illness,
death or injury or that of close relative of our or a travelling companion. The
policy also covers cancellation if you fail an university or third level equivalent
exam and are required to re-sit. There is no cover for cancellation under option
one.
Q.2 If I have an exsisting medical
condition eg: Diabetes, Epilepsy or other recurring conditions, am I covered for
this? You should get a certificate from your doctor starting
that your condition is stable and you are fit to make the trip. Medication which
you normally require on an ongoing basis is not covered. If you are on medication
you should bring extra supplies to prevent difficulties arising and keep them
separate from your usual supply in case of loss or theft of baggage.
Q.3 I am thinking of going scuba
diving, white water rafting and skiing, am I covered? Some
hazardous activities are covered if you purchase Option two and others are only
covered if you purchase Option three. Check with your local usit NOW office to
make sure you are covered for that adrenaline rush! There is no cover for hazardous
activities under option one.
Q.4 While your travelling: Suppose
I get sick or have an accident?
Each of the three options available to you on the usit
NOW policy provide medical cover with limits ranging from
€ 1,270,000 to € 6,348,690 depending on which
of the levels of cover you have chosen.
Q.5 Am I covered for dental treatment?
If you need emergency dental treatment while you are
abroad, there is cover for this under Option two and
three. There is no cover for emergency dental treatment
under Option one. Each of the other options has cover
for emergency dental treatment for relief of pain only,
with upper limits of € 444.41under Option two and
€ 635.87 under Option three. The cover for this
treatment does not allow the use of precious metals
eg: crowns. Bridgeworks etc.
Q.6 Am I covered if I lose my baggage?
There is no cover under Option one but if you
choose either Option two or Option three, your baggage
is covered. The policy requires that you exercise reasonable
care of your property and you should never leave it unattended
or in the possession of any other person not known to
you. If your property is stolen, you must report it to
the local police as a copy of their police is required
to make a claim. Receipts for articles lost or stolen
are always required. Remember there is no cover for personal
property under option one.
Q.7 Is money
covered?
There
is no cover for cash so we recommend that you take Travellers Cheques and carry
the minimum amount of cash on you at all times. Don't forget to keep the receipt
of the Travellers Cheques your are carrying and keep it separate from the cheques
themselves.
Q.8 What happens
if I lose my prepaid tickets eg: Inter-Rail, Amtrak
or Greyhound ticket?
There
is cover for lost or stolen prepaid tickets but only if you purchase Option two
or Option three. The cover extends to the cost of purchasing a similar replacement
ticket or a ticket to return to Ireland or the UK.
Q.9 What happens
if I have to cut short my trip?
It really depends on the reason. If you are
homesick and want to return early then this will not be covered. If you have to
cut short your trip due to a severe injury or illness or yourself or an immediate
relative, then the policy will pay any additional costs you incur to return to
Ireland or the UK. If you fail an exam and have to re-sit you are also covered
to curtail your trip.
Q.10 If I
return for an insured reason can I resume my trip?
Exclusive to Option three, cover is available if you
curtail your trip for an insured reason and you then
wish to resume it. The policy will pay up to €
507.90 if you are travelling back to a European destination
or € 1015.79 if you are returning to a worldwide
destination.
Please note! You
will find a comprehensive Questions & Answers list contained in your policy. These
questions & answers are prepared for your guidance only and do not form part
of the policy terms and conditions. You should read the full policy terms &
conditions to familiarise yourself with the cover. In the event of there being
any discrepancy between information contained in the questions & answers and
the policy document itself, the wording of the policy document shall take precedence.

Travel Insurance, through your Travel Agent
Whenever you book a vacation or a business trip, it's
a wise decision to purchase insurance coverage to protect
your investment and to protect yourself and your family in
case of a medical emergency.
In case you are sick or injured during your trip...
Emergency medical insurance will help you get access to the best medical
care available, and protect you from expensive medical bills.
In case something upsets your travel plans...
It could be anything from your own medical emergency to the death of a
close friend. Cancellation & Interruption insurance will reimburse
you for expenses if an emergency forces you to cancel your trip, or if
you must delay your return or return home early. This coverage protects
you against over 40 specified risks that could force you to change your
plans. Cancellation & Interruption insurance can only be purchased
at the time you book your tickets.
In case your luggage is lost or delayed...
Insurance can't prevent the inconvenience of lost luggage, but it
will give you money towards replacing your belongings, up to a specified
maximum value, so your trip can continue as planned.
RBC Insurance offers a complete range of travel insurance. Your travel
agent can recommend a specific package to suit your needs.

Atlas Travel Medical Insurance
Underwritten by Lloyds' of London
Medical Insurance for
Persons Traveling Outside of their Home Country
From 15 days to 12 months of coverage
Perfect for: Foreign Nationals Visiting the United States, US Citizens Traveling Overseas,
International Travelers Interested in Renewable Coverage
Making Travel Worry-Free
Whether you travel for business or pleasure,
international travel involves risk. You may arrive at your destination to find that your
luggage with personal items has disappeared. A personal emergency may necessitate your
early return to your Home Country. A medical emergency may require hospitalization or even
air evacuation. In most cases, your existing insurance will not provide adequate
protection for these and other risks. Without appropriate travel insurance, you may be
exposed to significant financial liability. MultiNational Underwriters, Inc. has designed
The Atlas Series to take the risks out of international travel, so you can have an
enjoyable and productive trip.
Am I Eligible for the Atlas Series?
If you are traveling outside of your Home Country and are
at least 14 days old, you are eligible for coverage. If you are under age 70, you may
select your Overall Maximum Limit, ranging from $50,000 to $1,000,000. If you are age 70
to 79, the Overall Maximum Limit available is $50,000. If you are age 80 or older, the
Overall Maximum Limit available is $10,000. The minimum coverage period is 15 days and the
maximum coverage period is 12 months. You may purchase coverage in a combination of
monthly and 15-day increments, depending on your needs.
When Does Coverage Become Effective and When Does It End?
Your Trip Cancellation coverage becomes effective on the later of:
the date we receive your Application and correct premium, or 10 days prior to your
scheduled departure. The rest of your coverage becomes effective on the later of: the date
we receive your Application and correct premium, the date you depart from your home
country, or the date you request on your Application. Your coverage will end on the
earliest of: the end of the period for which you have paid a premium, the date requested
on your Application, or the date you return to your Home Country (unless you have started
a Benefit Period or are eligible for Home Country Coverage under the Atlas Extra plan).
Does The Atlas Series Provide Any Home Country Coverage?
Yes. Under certain circumstances, the Atlas Series will
provide limited Home Country Coverage. If you have started a Benefit Period while your
insurance under the Atlas Series was in effect, you are covered for medical expenses only
for the duration of the Benefit Period, regardless of whether you are at home or abroad.
Your Benefit Period begins on the date of a covered Illness or Injury, and lasts for 180
days. If you have purchased Atlas Extra and have maintained coverage for at least 6
months, the plan provides Home Country Coverage for up to 30 days if the insurance is
maintained and premiums are paid.
Which Plan Should I Purchase?
If you are a US citizen traveling abroad for 6
months or less, you should purchase Atlas International.
If you are a non-US citizen traveling outside your Home Country for 6 months or less, you
should purchase Atlas America . Regardless of your citizenship, if you are
planning on traveling for 6 months or more, you should purchase Atlas Extra.
Am I
Eligible For The Atlas Series?
If you are traveling outside of your Home Country and
are at least 14 days old, you are eligible for coverage.
