Group
Medical
There are two primary
types of Group Medical Insurance Plans:
HMO .Where
you pick a primary care physician in a medical care network of
hospitals and doctors. If
you need to see a different physician, your primary care doctor will
make the decision to refer you to another doctor within the same
network if he or she thinks it medically necessary.
The good part is that for an office visit you have only a small
Co-Pay, usually around $10.00 and the insurance pays the balance.
The bad side of the HMO is that it will not pay for another hospital
or doctor outside the network.
PPO .Where
you can use any physician or hospital, but the benefit is paid at a
greater amount if you see a physician or use a hospital within the
network. Office visit
Co-Pay is usually around $20.00.
Individual Medical
There
are two primary types of Individual Medical Insurance Plans:
PPO .Like
with a group plan above, you can use any physician or hospital but it
pays a greater amount if you use one in the network.
T raditional
Plan .Pays
the benefit for any doctor or hospital.
This type of plan is usually difficult to find and is always more
expensive. This is the kind of plan we grew up with before managed care
health plans.
